Scouts aims to build and develop young people’s confidence, sense of adventure and outdoor skills, as well as encouraging them to explore their beliefs and attitudes and be creative. It offers them the independence to put these skills into practice at camps and even on international trips. Scouts are encouraged to work together and take the lead on all sorts of projects, from community based work to planning games and activities for their meetings.
Scouts work towards their Chief Scout Gold Award by completing 9 Challenge Badges and 6 Activity or Staged Badges of their choice. The Challenge Badges include: Adventure, Creative, Expedition, Outdoors, Skills, World, Personal Challenge, Team Leader and Teamwork Challenge. Clackmannanshire District Scout News
Scouts took part in a back to basics weekend at the Barrwood in May. The weekend had the Scouts learning about maps and compasses, pioneering, signalling, fire lighting, axes and saws. For a break from learning new skills the Scouts also got the opportunity to whizz round the assault course and explore the Barrwood caving complex.
The weekend also saw many of the Scouts take an active part in preparing and cooking meals for themselves and the rest of their groups.
We have recently appointment a new ADC Scouts, Nick. Nick has started visiting some of the Scout Troops and is hoping to hold a leaders meeting in March to plan an action packed district programme for Scouts.
